Geoff Holdcroft was born and raised in Staffordshire. He studied Chemistry as an under-graduate and post-graduate at Liverpool, Staffordshire and Keele Universities before moving to Suffolk in 1985 to work at BT’s Research Laboratories in Martlesham.
Geoff first lived in Little Bealings before moving to Purdis Farm and finally relocating to Woodbridge in 2006. Geoff was involved in the community life of Woodbridge long before he came to live in the town, first as a member of the Deben Yacht Club and then helping to run the Woodbridge Regatta. On moving to Woodbridge Geoff became Treasurer of the Regatta Association and then Chairman since 2008.
Geoff is a member of Woodbridge & District Lions Club, a Trustee of the Woodbridge Tide Mill Trust, a Governor of the Seckford Foundation and a Director and Company Secretary of Choose Woodbridge CIC.
Geoff was first elected as a Councillor in September 2008 to represent Woodbridge Riverside Ward on Suffolk Coastal District Council. He was re-elected in May 2011 and at the same time was elected as a Woodbridge Town Councillor.
Following those elections Geoff was invited to become Suffolk Coastal’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Leisure, Tourism and Economic Development and following a reshuffle in October 2013 he became responsible for Planning, Transport and Information Technology.
In May 2015 Geoff was re-elected to Suffolk Coastal District Council as one of three councillors representing Woodbridge, the Bealings and Hasketon. He is Deputy Leader as well as Cabinet Member of Economic Development, Transport, Information Technology as well as all Nuclear related matters. Also in May 2015 Geoff was re-elected as a Town Councillor as Chairs both the Highways and Standing Orders Committees.
In addition to his council duties Geoff is politically active and is a Vice-Chairman of Suffolk Coastal Conservative Association and Chairman of the Norfolk & Suffolk Area Management Executive.
